Course Delivery Method: Online
Course Description: Indepth study and applications of
polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions, and
systems of equations using matrices. Additional topics such as sequences,
series, probability, and conics may be included.
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of
this course the student should be able to do the following:
1.
Demonstrate and apply knowledge of properties of functions, including domain
and range, operations,
compositions, and
inverses.
2. Recognize and apply polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions and solve related equations.
3.
Apply graphing techniques.
4.
Evaluate all roots of higher degree polynomial and rational functions.
5.
Recognize, solve and apply systems of linear equations using matrices.

required to take the comprehensive final exam.
College Repeat Policy: A student may repeat this course only once after receiving a grade,

The Lowest grade of the exams 1,2,3 and 4 will be dropped.
Scientific or graphing calculator are allowed for exams. However, a calculator with a computer algebra system is not allowed.
All exam questions
are similar to the HW and exam review questions and will be Multiple choice. It is strongly recommended to
do all the HW and exam review problems before taking
your exam.
Course grade computed
using the following formula:
((0.20*(HW & Exam Review average/100)) + (0.60*(exams sum/300))
+ (0.20*(comprehensive final exam/100)))
Exam Policy: All exams must be taken at a Testing Center. If you take your exams at the Collin College testing
centers, it will be free of charge. Otherwise, you
may have to pay a fee to take your exams at any other testing center. The
comprehensive final exam is taken during final exams week.
Exams usually will be graded within a day.
Check Collin College website for testing centers schedule. A Collin College ID card is required to take an exam in the testing center.
Make – up Exams: A missed exam
will result in a zero score. If a
student knows ahead of time that an exam will be missed, then inform the
instructor early before the exam and arrangements will be made. Eligibility for a makeup exam requires a DOCUMENTED medical or personal / family emergency,
and must be approved by the instructor.
Attendance Policy: Follow the course weekly schedule on page
5. In addition, if a student is unable
to complete the course, then it is the student’s responsibility to withdraw
from the course.
Project Description
and Policy: No projects for this class section.
Homework Policy: Weekly online homework assignments are to be
completed online using MyMathLab. An unlimited number of attempts is allowed
for the online homework assignments . These
assignments are for your practice and mastering the subjects.
Lab Policy: There are four labs which are included in homework assignments to be completed online using
MyMathLab. See page 4 for due dates. NO EXTENSIONS are given on due
dates.
Quiz Policy: No quizzes for this class section.

Resource Material:
Any student enrolled
in this class has access to the Math Lab located in D – 203, (972) 881 – 5921.
The Lab is staffed
with faculty and tutors; in addition, it offers free tutorial help, graphing
calculators, and computer assistance. Check with LRC for video recordings. Collin
students may arrange for tutoring with the ACCESS office in G – 200, call
(972) 881 – 5898 for scheduling
and availability.
Withdrawal
Regulation:
Under section 51.907
of the Texas Education Code, students may not withdraw from more than six
courses including any course a transfer student has withdrawn from at another
Texas institute of higher education. For exemptions,

Course Withdrawal:
To withdraw from this
class, you need to do the following:
1. Attain a Drop/Add form
from the office of Admission and Records, (972) 881 – 5710,
2. Turn in the
completed Drop/Add form to the office of Admission and Records on or prior the
withdrawal deadline,
3. Make sure your
course withdrawal satisfies the college withdrawal policy,
4. You may receive an
F if you do not finish this class and do not withdraw on or prior to the
withdrawal deadline.
Religious Holy Days:
In accordance with
section 51.911 of the Texas Education Code, the college will allow a student
who is absent from class for the observance of a religious holy day to take an
examination or complete an assignment scheduled for that day within a
reasonable time. Please refer to the current Collin Student Handbook.

Every member of the

using someone else’s work for assignments as if it were one’s own; or any other
dishonest means of attempting to fulfill the requirements of a course.
Collusion is intentionally or
unintentionally aiding or attempting to aid another in an act of scholastic
dishonesty, including but not limited to, failing to secure academic work;
providing a paper or project to another student; providing an inappropriate
level of assistance; communicating answers to a classmate about an examination
or any other course assignment; removing tests or answer sheets from a test
site, and allowing a classmate to copy answers.
Any incidence of scholastic dishonesty will be
reported to the Dean of Student Development Office. Students who commit
scholastic dishonesty will receive a penalty ranging from an F on the
assignment to an F in the course, at the discretion of the instructor.
