CREATIVE GENIUS

Michael Gelb

·        Structure of the human brain:

·        30 billion brain cells

·        each brain cell has cell body

·        from central cell body extend 10-100 long tentacles called dendrites

·        each dendrites has 10-1000 chemical sacks called dendritic spines

·        electrical energy pulses through those dendrites and shoots into the dendritic spine (shaped like a mushroom), leaping across a tiny microscopic gap and into another dendritic spine, thereby shooting electrochemical information along that other dendrite and into another cell body and so on and so forth throughout your brain

·        # of chemical reactions that takes in your brain every second is a minimum of 100,000.

·        So what’s the  # of possible patterns of connection in your brain?

·        according to a professor (Inokin?) at Moscow University, a disciple of Pavlov, as he estimated in the early 80s, the # is 10 to the 800th.

·        best estimate of # of atoms in the universe is 10 to the 80th

·        As advances in computer technology and electron microscopy continued, he made a further estimate, still conservative, that the # of possible connections in your brain is the number 1 followed by six and a half million miles of standard sized IBM type-written zeroes.

·        Neural circuitry of the human brain is conservatively estimated to be 1400 times more complex than the entire global telephone network.

·        Every human is gifted with the power of creative genius—that’s not just some theoretical concept, but rather is something practical, something you can bring to bear on improving the quality of your life.

·        Businesses are busy redesigning themselves and are increasingly realizing that human creativity is their primary sustainable competitive advantage.  We’re on the verge of a new renaissance, which centers upon the development of intellectual capital.

·        Learn to mine your own creative energy and invest yourself in your own intellectual potential by focusing your attention on personal growth and always search and reach for your own particular arete and potential.

·        Courage to open your mind and try something new empowers you and expands your horizons exponentially.

1.      Courage is rooted in a Latin word that means heart.

2.      Courage is a quality of the heart; it means opening your heart in order to open your mind.
