Ø      how the Mesopotamians and Egyptians viewed immortality and how these beliefs shaped their behaviors and customs

o       EgyptiansàAddress the Osiris myth, Maat, beliefs about Judgment Day and mummification.

o       MesopotamiansàRelay Gilgamesh's quest for immortality and his failure to deliver eternal life to his people.

Ø      the beliefs of the Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, & Islam—on the subject and how these beliefs shape their behaviors and customs

o       Consider Jerusalem and Judgment Day

Ø      the efforts to achieve immortality in our own day and age

o       Consider both spiritual and scientific thought on the subject

o       Incorporate quotes from the article, “Searching for the Divine” posted in the “religion” icon on the course website
