42 year old male, no significant health issues.
Source:
Skin nodule from dorsal back taken during a surgical biopsy
using Lidocaine as local anesthesia.
Specimen Submitted:
Tissue biopsy fixed in formalin
Cytology slides, unstained and stained with modified Wrights

Results:
This section is a circumscribed 2.3 cm x 1.8 cm subcuticular mass with skin taken from the region of the dorsal back.
Cytological impression smears indicate minimal cellular debris and normal epithelia.
Histopathologic examinations reveal a mass composed of cells arranged
in sheets subdivided by a few thin fibrous trabeculae. Cells are round with
abundant, high vacuolated cytoplasm and flattened nuclei without evidence
of atypia.
Diagnosis: Lipoma
Comment: Benign
Good surgical margins
Prognosis: Good.
Tumor should not reoccur
