Dr. Weis

1. Compare and contrast the three muscle types based on location, histology, function, and nerve supply (innervation).

2. Know the changes to the skeletal muscle cell, gross & histological anatomy, C.T.divisons, specific cell contents and 4 functions of skeletal muscle.

3. Sarcomere definiton and recognition

4. Name and be able to identify the bands and lines seen on skeletal muscle. Be able to draw and label the banding pattern of skeletal muscle.

5. Know the detailed structure and function of actin and myosin and their function and interaction.

7. Know the source and 4 functions of ATP.

8. Be able to summarize the walking/sliding/rachet filament theories.

9. Be able to describe the structure and physiology of the NMJ and the events that happen in an excitation-contraction coupling.

10. Define all the physiological terms (RMP, depolarization, etc.) and know what ion is moving to create this electrical event.

11. Know the events that happen in a skeletal muscle action potential (contraction physiology).

12. Define motor unit and explain why it is important

13. Define : atrophy and hypertrophy and explain what is happening
