BIOL 2402 A&P II      Lecture Review Questions

 Blood Vessels            Dr. Weis

1. Know blood vessel structure (gross / histo) for the tunics and explain the differences between the three major types.

2. Give the subgroups of the three vessels and their function.

3. Define anastomosis and give an arterial and venous example

 4. F =  change in P / R formula and factors that affect each part of the formula for pressure, resistance and blood flow.

5. Know the regulatory control for pressure (BP = CO x PR).  Know resistance factors.

6.  How blood control is controlled to the tissues (neural, chemical, renal).

7. Capillary Dynamics => 4 pressure names and sources, direction of fluid flow and what happens and why (net effects).

8. Understand the different fluid compartments:: name, location, components, regulation between.

9. Circuits :: vessels involved in pulmonary, coronary, and systemic pathways of blood flow.

10. Aortic branches for major supply to the head, especially the Circle of Willis, trunk (thoracic vs. abdominal), appendages.  Remember to identify right vs. left.

11. Know venous return from the body (deep veins and superficial veins).

12. Explain the hepatic portal system of circulation and it=s importance.

13. Name two problems with the following : blood flow, capillary dynamics, circulatory system, vessels

14. Define edema

14. Be able to relate all the components of the cardiovascular system

                        Blood

                        Heart

                        Blood vessels
