2. Give sources and examples for antimicrobials

3. Give the major chemical groups of antibiotics and an example for each

4. Give the general MOA (mechanism of action) for antibiotics pertaining to explaining:

a) the various ways for antibiotic actions on bacterial cell wall. 
Give specific antibiotic class for each unique mechanism.

b)how antibiotics affect the cell membrane and give an example of an example of an antibiotic class that is involved.

c) the various ways for antibiotic actions resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis.  Give specific antibiotic class for each unique mechanism.

d) the various ways for antibiotic actions resulting in the inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis.  Give specific antibiotic class for each unique mechanism.

e) how antibiotics affect the synthesis of essential metabolites and give an example of an antibiotic class that is involved.

5. Explain the major types of mechanisms of action for antiviral drugs.

6. Explain the major types of mechanisms of action for antifungal drugs

7. Explain the difference between narrow and broad spectrum of activity and static vs. cidal drugs.

8. Explain the causes of bacterial resistance based on acquisitions and mechanisms

9. Define MIC, MBC, and MLC.

10. Name and briefly explain a test used for microbial susceptibility.

11. Name several host factors that need to be considered in drug selection for patients.

12. Pick an antibiotic drug of your choice and be able to give: Chemical name, trade name, MOA, Pharmacokinetics, Therapeutic uses (x3), Adverse side effects (x2), Drug interaction (x1), Administration and Dosage rate (for adult humans).
