Journal Report

• 20 points maximum

• Due Date: by 11^th week of school, exact date and time to be determined each semester.

• Select a related journal article on a disease or condition (different than the topic chosen for the pathophysiology paper) that may require surgical intervention as part of the treatment plan.

• Format:  Cover sheet, Reference article/information, content summary page

                     Minimum one page of content summary, 12 point font, 1 inch margins

• One report per student

Attach copy of journal article including date and name of publication.

Content summary page

            Four paragraphs (minimum 4 complete sentences for each discussion paragraph)

                        Paragraph 1: Summary of disease/condition discussed

                        Paragraph 2: Explanation of the importance of the information discussed

                        Paragraph 3: Patient prep and post operative concerns

Paragraph 4: Medical vocabulary consisting of 10 words defined as used in the context of the journal article.

Grading Rubric: 20 points maximum

• Cover sheet: 0.5 points
• Content page: 16 points
• Summary : 3 points
• Explanation: 4 points
• Patient care (pre and post op): 4 points
• Medical vocabulary: 5 points
• Reference information (attached article): 2.5 points
• Bibliography (MLA format): 1 point
