No. These questions are to test your knowledge of the material. If you can answer these questions in your own words, you will probably be ready for a lecture quiz or lecture exam. If you have problems finding the answer or are not sure if your answer is correct, then please contact your instructor for clarification.

 

2. Part of the participation grade is based on discussions. Where do I find the topics and where do I write my opinions, answers, and research findings ?

On the main navigation page for the course, in the lecture section, there is a link to the discussion topics. You can see what discussion topic you would like to research. The topics change every two weeks, so check the course calendar for the dates when a new topic starts. Once a new topic starts, the old one is no longer acceptable. See lecture addendum for more details.
WebCT will be used to post your thoughts, opinions, and research findings. There are links to WebCT for each discussion topic. Follow the directions on the opening page for WebCT. Passwords are case sensitive. Remember, there will be three discussion topics you need to post during the semester. Each good posting is worth up to 25 points. In WebCT on the course home page, then click on discussion topics link icon. Once inside this link, click to begin writing your discussion.

 

3. Lecture quizzes were mentioned that they MAY be used once all regular exams were taken. Do I have to take lecture quizzes?

No. Lecture quizzes are technically optional. If you do elect to take them, they can only help your grade by helping you prepare for a lecture exam and if you do take all of the regular lecture exams, then the 10 best lecture quizzes will be totaled. If the lecture quiz total is better than one of the regular lecture exams, the lecture quiz total will be used in place of this exam. Remember, lecture quizzes will not be used as a substitute for a missed exam.

4. When will we get our lecture quiz or lecture exams returned ?

Depending on how the exam is graded, you should receive the quizzes or exams within seven (7) days after the scheduled due date and time.

5. How do I know what I'm supposed to be doing each day or each week ?

Use the semester calendar for the schedule of assignments, due dates, and quizzes, exams, and practicals. To access the semester calendar, go to the main navigation page and click on course or scroll down to course table. Within this table is a link to the semester calendar. Click on this link and it will take you to a calendar page. Select the month you want to view. You may want to print out the current semesters calendar to keep handy and to keep you on schedule.

 

6. I've heard that science courses are hard and take a lot of time.

Science courses have a lot of important information and this information builds from chapter to chapter and from science course to science course. It may take more time to read, study, and review the concepts for a lab science course than other traditional nonscience courses.
Working with science concepts on a daily basis will help in your studies. The Anatomy & Physiology science courses use information from other areas, so depending on your college background in math, chemistry, medical terminology, and biology you may have to learn or relearn some of the major concepts in these courses to understand and apply your A&P knowledge.
