1. Should I take an Internet course or a traditional classroom/lab course?

            Internet course offers convenience to students as far as time of day.

            On line courses are not for everyone. 

It requires motivation to complete lessons in a timely manner.  If you prefer face-to-face interaction and actual hands on experience, then a traditional classroom / lab environment is recommended.

            It all depends on how best you learn.

2. How do I know what kind of student learner I am ?

You may want to “test” what type of learner you are by accessing a tutorial program found on the Internet.

            The results are tabulated and explained once you have completed the form.

            If you are kinesthetic and or auditory learner, then a traditional classroom / lab environment is highly recommended. 

If you more visual or read/write, then an online class / lab may work fine.

3.  How long is the course?

            This on line A&P basics course is set up to follow a 16 week semester.

            There is a lot of material to cover and this time frame works the best.

4. What happens if I’ll be away for part of the week?

            Lessons run weekly and can be accessed from any computer connected to the

            WWW and Internet. 

You must have your password and pin number to access the any Blackboard Course information or evaluation tools if the course is set up that way. This one may have some Blackboard components.

For this course you must have reliable email services capable of sending and receiving attachments. 

Note that Blackboard and CougarWeb will time you at at various points for security reasons.

You are responsible for the material and checking the course calendar for the assignment / report due dates and evaluation (quiz, exam, lab practical) dates.

5. What if I forget my password or pin number to access Blackboard for the portions of the course that require using Blackboard?

            Contact the college online help assistance.  Then log onto the college Blackboard site at

            http://ce6.collin.edu/webct/entryPageIns.dowebct and follow the instructions. 

Blackboard passwords are case sensitive.

            After accessing the course, you may change your password and pin number.

            Remember to write them down and put them in a safe and logical place.

6. Do I need a password to access assignments or other information?

            No.  Use the instructor’s web site for access to this material @

            http://iws.collin.edu/mweis

            Exams and quizzes will be password protected.

Instructions will be given  on how to access these evaluation tools at the appropriate time.

7. When are my assignments / report due?

            Check the course calendar for due dates for reports or assignments.

            Late assignments / reports will be docked points during the week they are due.

            After the second week, assignments and reports will not be accepted.

8. When is my next quiz, exam, lab practical?

            Check the calendar for these dates.

            A missed quiz, exam, or lab practical can not be made up.

            Refer to the instructor’s addendum regarding missed exams, quizzes, and lab practicals.

9. When will my quiz, exam, lab practical, report / assignment be graded?

            Quizzes if given through Blackboard will usually be self graded by Blackboard.

            Quizzes given by the instructor will be graded by the instructor.

            Exams, practicals, reports / assignments will be graded by the instructor.

            If used, Blackboard grading is automatic and very fast.

            Instructor grading may take at least a week or more depending on  the type of

            evaluation tool.

10. How do I get my final course grade?

            Final course grades are due ~ 24 hours after the final.

            They will be posted on CougarWeb which is accessed through the college’s web site.

            You must have an I.D. and PIN number.

You may also be able to access your name on the Blackboard grade book to note your progress, if this option is available.

            Percentage calculation of final course grades will follow the departmental syllabus guidelines:  65% overall lecture grade added to 35 % overall lab grade.

11.  What if I have more questions ?

Contact your instructor or post your question to the bulletin board or list serve if available.

You may also use the weekly on line chat session to get questions answered once the scheduled discussion time is over.

12. How do I contact my instructor?

            You may contact her by email, by phone, or in person at their college office.

Contact information is given on the departmental syllabus and the instructor’s addendum found on the instructor’s web site for the appropriate course.

Contact information is also given in the syllabus summary on Blackboard when access is made available.
