A&P Basics Course Grade Summary

Lecture : 70% of overall course grade

4 lecture exams @ 20 % each make up 80% of the Lecture portion of the grade. Each exam is worth 100 points.

A missed exam means that you take the final exam during finals week. Only one exam may be missed during the semester. If other exams are missed then the grade will be assigned a zero (0) and the lecture quiz total will not be used.

Lecture quizzes are used to get you prepared for the exams and the 10 best lecture quizzes (out of 15 possible) can be used to substitute for a lower exam grade. The lecture quizzes will not substitute for any missed exam. Four major exams must be taken before the lecture quiz total can be used. The lecture quizzes are optional, but most students benefit from weekly feedback and the quiz total is quite often used in the final grade calculation.

The remaining 20% of the lecture portion of the course is included in the course participation. The course participation is worth 100 points.

Participation consists of comments, thoughts, and research for 3 discussion topics offered every two weeks during the semester.

For every participation, 25 points will be attributed to the participation grade, with a maximum of three discussions for 75 points.

If no discussions are submitted for all or just one or two, then that grade for the missing discussions will be a zero (0).

The remaining 25 points of the participation will be assigned to the student agreement form. This form must be filled out, signed, and returned to the instructor PRIOR to the start of classes. If the form is received late, then only 12.5 points will be awarded. Student agreement forms received after the 12 class day (census date) will be given a zero (0).

60% of the lab grade comes from Four lab practicals @ 15% each

20% of the lab grade comes from Ten best lab quizzes (out of 15 possible)

20% of the lab grade comes from Four lab reports @ 25% each
