BIOL 2404 A&P Basics

Welcome-Presemester

Welcome to Anatomy and Physiology Basics.
This presemester page may answer a few questions.

First things first :

Students who are registered for the class should
(if they haven't already done so)
email the instructor

Then:

Make sure you have allowed enough time for this course.
Biology classes take a lot of time and dedicated daily study and review.
You will be registered for an A&P lecture AND an A&P lab,
which is equivalent to taking 3 regular non-science courses.

Lecture meets twice weekly for 1.5 hours and
lab meets twice weekly for 2 hours.

Study time for science courses begins with 3 hours for each hour you attend.
3 lecture hours x 3 study hours = 9 hours per week for study
4 lab hours x 3 study hours = 12 hours per week study
Total time required = 28 hours per week for classes, labs, and study time!
[this does not include taking tests or doing research]

If you have a biology or medical background, you will most likely decrease the study time to 12 - 15 hours per week.

Next :

Purchase a textbook which will be used for lecture and lab.
Textbooks are available at the college bookstore
at the Spring Creek Campus.
Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology
current edition, Elaine Marieb

Course Web Site

The actual course will be available approximately one week before classes begin.

A presemester course site is available to help get you comfortable with the general overlay of the course and provide access to paperwork you will need to read before classes begin. To access this presemester site click the following link:

If you would like to get started early,
we will be covering the first 3.5 chapters of the text in the first two weeks of class.
In addition, you may want to review your medical terminology textbooks
for a through review of the medical terms
and a general review of body systems.
