Health Information Management

Health Information Management is a rewarding profession with numerous growth opportunities. Health Information Managers and medical coders are a vital part of the healthcare profession.  With these programs you will in be in demand. The electronic health record is the way of the future and you will gain the knowledge to work with electronic records. The classes in these programs can be taken online. They are credit courses and you may take them on a full or part time basis.  The fall and spring semesters are 16 weeks with the summer session being 10 weeks.  

For more information about Health Information Management go to the Health Information Management Website at www.collin.edu/him/.  The (Associates of Applied Science) AAS Program in Health Information Management is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education. Students in the program can join AHIMA for the discounted student rate using the Collin College Education Program Code. 

I will be the instructor for several of the Health Information Management classes.  I am a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and have worked in the health care profession for many years.  I have worked in acute care hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, healthcare software companies, and consulting groups.  I have taught for Collin College for several years.
