I believe that learning should not be a passive process; it should involve problem-solving, inquiry, simulations, experimentation, exploration, meta-cognition, and should be meaningful to each student. The teacher should serve as a facilitator of knowledge. Students need to have the opportunity to construct their own understandings, rather than being told what to think. Confucius states, "Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I'll remember. Involve me and I'll understand". My role as an educator is to provide learning environments that encourage problem-solving and discovery and to scaffold students to reach their highest level of potential.
