The term Gnostic Philosophy is intended to denote an approach to Gnosticism aimed at distilling from the mash of mysticism those aspects and doctrines most pertinent to philoshophical inquisitiveness. Gnosticism is the name given to the religious "movement" that lasted from about 200 BCE to 1400 OCE (if we choose include Qabbalism). Due to the chronological length, the geographical breadth, and intellectual depth of the Gnostic movement, there exist in Gnosticism many such philosophically pertinent ideas with which to deal. However, such ideas as the Aions and the mystical journey of the Soul, pertinent to the Philosophy of Religion, will be dealt with here only cursorily. This panel, rather, will concern itself with only a few of the more contemporarily relevant ideas: those of the Unknowable God, of Gnosis or Divine Knowledge itself, and of the Syzygy.
